MIKE MILLER (SG)
  • Jul 18 2016, 21:03 PM

Update: Miller agreed to a two-year, $5 million contract with the Nuggets on Monday, Shams Charania of Yahoo! Sports reports.

Analysis: Miller heads back to Denver after making 47 appearances for the Nuggets over the 2015-16 season, averaging just 7.9 minutes per game. The 36-year-old will have a very similar role during the coming two years as he likely adds most of his value as a mentor to one of the youngest teams in the league.

Update: Miller will start in Wednesday's matchup with the Trail Blazers.

Analysis: Miller was announced late as the starter Wednesday. He should take on a bigger role than usual given this situation.

Update: Miller did not record a stat in four minutes during the Nuggets' 110-94 win against the Knicks on Tuesday.

Analysis: Miller has appeared in back-to-back games, and seven of the last 16. However, he has seen only 40 minutes total since Feb. 1, and Miller is merely a veteran voice in the locker room at this point in his career.

Update: Miller (coach's decision) didn't play in Wednesday's 103-92 win over the Nuggets.

Analysis: Wednesday's game was closely contested throughout, so coach Mike Malone ran a tight rotation that included nine players who all saw at least 18 minutes, leaving no room for Miller. The 35-year-old is usually capable of providing some three-point shooting off the bench when his number is called, but he's too low in the pecking order right now to make a consistent impact. Miller has appeared in only two of the Nuggets' last five games.

Update: Miller headed back to the bench during Saturday's 101-86 loss to the Spurs, finishing with no points and three rebounds over 13 minutes.

Analysis: Miller received a rare start in the Nuggets' previous game Wednesday against the Phoenix when coach Michael Malone opted to play small ball, but with Denver reverting to a more normal configuration Saturday, Joffrey Lauvergne swapped in for Miller. The veteran forward will likely continue to see only limited minutes off the bench as a three-point specialist.

Update: Miller will make a surprising start Wednesday against Phoenix, broadcaster Jason Kosmicki reports.

Analysis: The Nuggets are dealing with a plethora of injuries which is allowing Miller to sneak into the starting five even though he's averaging just under nine minutes per game this season. It's entirely possible for Miller to still see limited run Wednesday, especially since Will Barton will be available for the majority of minutes at small forward off the bench.

Update: Miller came away with three points (1-3 FG, 1-3 3Pt) and two assists across nine minutes in Monday's win over the Rockets.

Analysis: After being an inconsistent member of coach Michael Malone's rotation for much of the first month of the season, Miller has now appeared in 10 consecutive games. Still, he hasn't played more than 20 minutes in any of those contests and is averaging only 2.8 points during that span, so his fantasy appeal remains negligible.

Update: Miller scored nine points (3-4 FG, 3-4 3Pt) in 13 minutes off the bench in Tuesday's loss to the Clippers.

Analysis: Miller hadn't played in the Nuggets' previous three games, but coach Mike Malone called on the small forward in the first half, and he was able to provide some excellent outside shooting. At this stage in his long career, Miller is strictly a marksman from deep, and the inconsistent minutes he receives will continue to inhibit his fantasy value.

Update: Miller was unable to log any minutes in Denver's 103-102 win Wednesday against Milwaukee.

Analysis: Miller has been very quiet in the early stages of the 2015-16 season, playing only 5.0 minutes per game for Denver. His one bright spot this year was against the Lakers on Nov. 3rd where he scored nine points (3-4 FG, 3-4 3PM), however these are the only points Miller has scored this season.
