JORDAN ADAMS (SG)
  • Jun 15 2016, 08:44 AM

Update: Adams (knee) will undergo cartilage transplant surgery on his right knee Wednesday, Steve Kyler of Basketball Insiders reports.

Analysis: Adams has dealt with recurring issues in his right knee, and he underwent surgery in January, ending his season after playing in only two games. This latest procedure will be the third in less than a calendar year, and he figures to miss extended time throughout the summer. The Grizzlies are yet to release a timetable, but it's possible Adams' absence could extend into fall training camp.

Update: Grizzlies GM Chris Wallace said that Adams continues to rehab his surgically-repaired right knee and it still hasn't been determined if he'll play in the Summer League, Peter Fleischer of FOX 13 Memphis (WHBQ) reports.

Analysis: Updates on Adams' condition have been rather sparse since he underwent what ultimately proved to be season-ending arthroscopic surgery on the knee in early January. Adams played just two games in 2015-16 -- with none coming after Nov. 2 -- and has appeared in only 32 games total during his two NBA seasons. The 2014 first-round pick's injury issues look as if they could put his career at risk, and at the moment, it appears doubtful that he'll be able to recover in time to play in the Summer League. If that's the case, Adams could be at risk of losing his roster spot heading into the upcoming season.

Update: Adams (knee) is expected to be reevaluated by the Grizzlies within the next few days. 'I have been working hard throughout my rehab process to get back and join my teammates on the court as soon as possible,' Adams said. 'I am trying to ramp up my cardio workouts as of late and hoping to get back to practice soon.'

Analysis: GM Chris Wallace echoed Adams' suggestion that he was progressing with his rehab, but a formal timetable for the second-year player's return has yet to be outlined. Since Adams hasn't played since early November and is still working his way back from arthroscopic surgery with less than a month remaining in the season, it seems unlikely that the 21-year-old will take the court before the playoffs commence.

Update: Grizzlies GM Chris Wallace noted Wednesday that Adams (knee) was 'progressing,' but the swingman remains without a timetable for a return, Ronald Tillery of the Memphis Commercial Appeal reports.

Analysis: While it's good to hear that Adams is showing improvement on some level, the sparseness of updates thus far in the his recovery process from arthroscopic right knee surgery in January doesn't offer much encouragement that he'll be back before the season ends in mid-April. If healthy, Adams would likely be in line for plenty of playing time with the Grizzlies dealing with a number of injuries at the moment, but unfortunately, staying on the court has been a major issue for the 21-year-old throughout his two seasons in the NBA.

Update: Adams (knee) remains out indefinitely, Ronald Tillery of the Memphis Commercial Appeal reports.

Analysis: The Grizzlies haven't revealed a timetable for Adams since he underwent knee surgery in January, but considering that he previously required another procedure in August, it seems likely that the team will shut him down for the season. He's appeared in just 32 games during his two years with the Grizzlies since being drafted with the 22nd overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft.

Update: Adams (knee) will undergo an arthroscopic procedure on his right knee next week, Ronald Tillery of the Commercial Appeal reports.

Analysis: The second-year UCLA product has appeared in only two games this season and has not seen the court since early November due to prolonged soreness in the knee, on which he underwent surgery back in August. It's unclear if the first procedure was ineffective, but Adams will undergo a second surgery, which Tillery reports is similar to the one teammate Brandan Wright underwent last month. The Grizzlies have not announced a recovery timetable for Adams, but Wright is expected to miss six-to-eight weeks, so Adams will likely follow a similar schedule.

Update: Adams has not played in a game since Nov. 2 due to soreness in the right knee he underwent surgery on in August.

Analysis: There seems to be no clear timetable for Adams return, but he is rumored to be closing in on a return to the court. The Grizzlies appear to be in no hurry to get Adams back in action, as they look to make sure the 21-year-old is at full strength before eyeing a return. He is buried on the Grizzlies' depth chart when healthy, so the loss hasn't been too significant for the team.

Update: Adams (knee) won't play in Sunday's game against the Heat, Rob Fischer of FOX Sports Southeast reports.

Analysis: Adams is reportedly closing in on a return to the court, but he'll remain inactive Sunday, as he continues to work back from his knee injury. The 21-year-old will be a deep reserve for the Grizzlies when he returns, so his fantasy value could be very limited even when healthy.

Update: Adams (knee) is expected to return to the court in the near future, Chris Herrington of the Memphis Commercial Appeal reports.

Analysis: The Grizzlies have been mum on an exact return date for Adams after he experienced renewed soreness in his right knee in early November, but it appears the time off has at least helped him heal up. Once he's able to get in a few practices, Adams is expected to report to the D-League Iowa Energy for a game or two before rejoining the Grizzlies.

Update: Adams (knee) hasn't played in the Grizzlies' last 11 games.

Analysis: Adams continues to battle soreness in his right knee, a likely byproduct of the surgery he underwent back in August. Once the soreness subsides, Adams will likely be a deep reserve for the Grizzlies, minimizing his chances of delivering any notable fantasy value this season.

Update: Adams (knee) has been ruled out for Wednesday's game against the Warriors, Rob Fischer of FOX Sports Southeast reports.

Analysis: The Grizzlies figure to be quite shorthanded in their rematch with the Warriors, a less-than-ideal development after losing by 50 in the previous meeting. In addition to Adams, Jarell Martin (foot) and Brandan Wright (knee) are unavailable due to injury, while the Grizzlies' two new acquisitions -- Mario Chalmers and James Ennis -- aren't yet cleared to play with the team. That will leave coach Dave Joerger with just 10 men available.

Update: Adams (knee) is out for Monday's game against the Clippers Peter Fleischer of FOX13 Memphis reports.

Analysis: Adams will sit out again due to the sore knee that has limited him since the preseason. It remains to be seen when he will be ready to play next, but he is not likely to play a key role when he is.

Update: Adams is listed as out with right knee soreness for Saturday night's game against the Jazz, Ronald Tillery of The Commercial Appeal reports.

Analysis: Adams underwent minor knee surgery in August and has been limited this season as a result. He's only played in two games for less than 10 minutes each. The Grizzlies' 2014 first-round pick will continue to rehab his knee, but it is unlikely he'll be at full strength any time soon. Even if healthy, Adams is buried on the depth chart and, barring any teammate's injuries, is unlikely to see major minutes this season.

Update: Adams' third year contract was picked up by the Grizzlies, Ron Tillery of The Commercial Appeal reports.

Analysis: Adams spent much of the off-season recovering from knee surgery, but returned to action for the Grizzlies' final preseason game. His three-point prowess gives him an outside shot at earning some minutes as a sophomore, but with the wing being so crowded, it won't be easy for him to carve out considerable playing time on a nightly basis.
