LUCAS NOGUEIRA (C)
  • Jul 18 2016, 13:01 PM

Update: Nogueira is expected to be first up to try to earn backup minutes at center due to his experience, but won't get many chances to prove himself worty, especially if rookie Jakob Poetl proves to be a better option, Josh Lewenberg of TSN Sports reports.

Analysis: Nogueira will need to compete with Poetl in fall camp in order to earn a consistent bench role behind starting center Jonas Valanciunas. In the 20115-16 season, Nogueira appeared in 29 games , averaging 2.2 points and 1.6 rebounds in eight minutes per game.

Update: Nogueira (coach's decision) was inactive for Tuesday's 102-96 overtime loss to the Heat in Game 1 of the series.

Analysis: Nogueira hasn't played in any of the Raptors' eight postseason games to date, and he'll likely remain inactive throughout the playoffs so long as none of the team's other players succumb to an injury.

Update: Nogueira will draw the start in Toronto's season finale versus the Nets.

Analysis: Nogueria will start at center for the Raptors on Wednesday. He has averaged only 6.8 minutes in the 28 games he has seen action this season. It will be hard to predict his output based on the lack of history to go on, but he should see a relatively heavy workload.

Update: Nogueira was recalled from the D-League's Raptors 905 on Monday.

Analysis: Nogueira's last appearance with the Raptors came on March 2, during which he played five minutes. He's not a regular part of the Raptors' rotation and will struggle to see the court in competitive games.

Analysis: Nogueira has played in 21 games this season, averaging 2.3 points, 1.5 rebounds, 0.1 assists, 0.2 blocks, and 0.4 steals in seven minutes per game during 2015-16. With Jonas Valanciunas, Jason Thompson, Patrick Patternson, James Johnson, and Bismack Biyombo on the team, Nogueira has been buried on the depth chart all season.

Update: Nogueira has appeared in three contests for the Raptors in February averaging 2.0 points, 1.0 rebounds, and 0.3 blocks across 6.7 minutes per game.

Analysis: The biggest impact Nogueira has made for Toronto this season was assuming the role of back-up center for Bismack Biyombo when ideal starter, Jonas Valanciunas, was forced out of action for 17 games in November and December with a hand injury. However, during that time, Nogueira did post a 14 point, four rebound effort against the Warriors, showcasing an NBA-level aptitude if he were ever to assume a larger role on the team. Until then, Nogueira is firmly off the radar in nearly all formats.

Update: Nogueira was recalled from the D-League's Raptors 905 on Tuesday.

Analysis: Nogueira previously saw some court time in December when Jonas Valanciunas (hand) was sidelined, but with the Raptors frontcourt now fully healthy, the second-year big man figures to see few opportunities at the NBA level.

Update: Nogueira was recalled from the D-League's Toronto 905 on Sunday.

Analysis: Nogueira, as well as Bruno Caboclo and Delon Wright, have all been recalled after a one game stint in the D-League. In Saturday's game with the 905, Nogueira finished with eight points (4-8 FG, 0-1 3Pt), six rebounds and six assists over 40 minutes. The seven-foot center will slide in as a reserve option behind Jonas Valanciunas and Bismack Biyombo.

Update: Nogueira (ankle) returned to action after a three-game absence and posted three points (1-4 FG, 1-2 FT), two rebounds, two steals, and one block in 15 minutes in Sunday's 96-76 win against the Sixers.

Analysis: Nogueira has played in just seven games this season and is averaging 4.6 points and 2.3 rebounds in 12 minutes. Although it's a bright sign for his status that he was able to play on Sunday, it's still hard to see his upside In most fantasy formats. He's not getting enough minutes to contribute, even with Jonas Valanciunas out, and he's not worth looking at in non-keeper formats.

Update: Nogueira will sit out Monday against the Lakers with a sprained left ankle.

Analysis: It's still unknown when Nogueira picked up the injury, but he recently started seeing consistent minutes off the bench with at least 16 in each of his past three games. In his absence, Bismack Biyombo will likely see an uptick in playing time.

Update: Nogueira scored 14 points (7-9 FG) while adding four rebounds, three assists and a steal in 25 minutes off the bench during Saturday's loss to the Warriors.

Analysis: He didn't record a block but his length make an impact on defense, and Bebe ended up seeing more court time than starter Bismack Biyombo at center. The 23-year-old Nogueira has looked very good since being called up from the D-League, and given his ability to run the pick and roll and willingness to kick the ball back outside rather than force up a bad shot, it's possible he could soon replace Biyombo in the starting lineup and remain in the rotation once Jonas Valanciunas returns from his finger injury.

Update: Nogueira had his best game of the season in Wednesday's 96-86 win over the Hawks, finishing with four points (2-2 FG), seven rebounds, and a block in 16 minutes.

Analysis: Bismack Biyombo continues to dominate the minutes at center while Jonas Valanciunas (hand) remains out, but Nogueira may be starting to carve out a greater role for himself as a reserve. He's logged a total of 22 minutes over the last two contests, and the 23-year-old offers plenty of energy and shot-blocking ability. Even so, unless he's able to wrest the starting job away from Biyombo, Nogueira isn't really a player to consider for fantasy purposes just yet.

Update: Nogueira was a DNP - Coach's Decision in his return to the Raptors on Sunday.

Analysis: He re-joined the roster from the team's D-League affiliate in time for Sunday afternoon's game, but a lack of practice time with the big club likely ensures that he didn't get on the court. There's no timetable yet for Jonas Valanciunas' return from a broken finger, but with the Raptors off until Wednesday, Nogueira has a better chance of working his way into the frontcourt rotation once Dwane Casey's been able to put him through his paces.

Update: Nogueira scored 13 points (5-8 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 3-4 FT) with nine rebounds, nine assists and four blocks in 27 minutes during Wednesday's home opener for the Raptors' D-League affiliate.

Analysis: The young Brazilian center had a big stat line, but also struggled defensively against Celtics draft pick Jordan Mickey. Nogueira will likely remain with the Raptors 905 for most of the season, unless injuries hit the frontcourt on the NBA roster, so he should get plenty of court time in which to improve his skills.

Update: Nogueira (hamstring) made his season debut Sunday against the Heat and posted three points (1-1 FG, 1-1 FT) and one steal in three minutes of action.

Analysis: It's a good sign that Nogueira was able to make the court, but this doesn't mean much from a fantasy perspective. He's played just seven games in his career, averaging 1.3 points and 1.6 rebounds in under four minutes of action. He's not currently included in the Raptors' rotation and won't make much of an impact unless a rash of injuries occur.

Update: Nogueira (hamstring) continued to sit Tuesday against the Mavericks, and has yet to have an update on his return.

Analysis: Nogueira hasn't made his season debut four games in, and he's still recovering from a hamstring injury. Even when he does return, he's not likely to make much of an impact, buried on the bench behind Jonas Valanciunas, so he can be safely ignored in all leagues at this point.

Update: Nogueira (hamstring) is inactive for Wednesday's season opener against the Pacers.

Analysis: A hamstring injury limited Nogueira throughout the preseason, and it sounds as though he might still be slowed by the injury. Even when he returns to full health, Nogueira's low standing on the Raptors' depth chart won't afford him many minutes off the bench.
