SEAN KILPATRICK (SG)
  • Jul 20 2016, 14:45 PM

Update: Kilpatrick averaged 19.2 points and 4.8 rebounds across four Las Vegas Summer League contests.

Analysis: The Cincinnati product knocked down 48.1 percent of his field goals but struggled from beyond the arc, connecting on just 4-of-16 attempts on the week. Kilpatrick's role for the new-look Nets is somewhat undefined heading into the season, but he figures to hold down a consistent bench role for what might be the weakest team in the league.

Update: Kilpatrick exploded for 26 points (10-18 FG, 3-7 3Pt, 3-3 FT), two rebounds, and two assists in 28 minutes during the Nets' 129-105 loss to the Pacers on Sunday.

Analysis: Kilpatrick has scored 15 points or more in every game during April, and he has hit double figures in 17 of 20 appearances since joining the Nets. He is averaging 17.8 points (45.1 FG, 34.5 3Pt, 100.0 FT), 2.4 rebounds, two threes, and 1.4 assists in 28 minutes per game through five April affairs, and with the Nets' season winding down, Kilpatrick figures to continue seeing plenty of minutes for the final two matchups.

Update: Kilpatrick led the Nets with 15 points (6-10 FG, 3-5 3Pt) to go along with three rebounds in 26 minutes off the bench during Sunday's loss to the Pelicans.

Analysis: The 26-year-old led the team in scoring for the second consecutive game, knocking down multiple treys for the first time in nearly two weeks. Kilpatrick should see regular run off the bench for the rest of the team, and there should be plenty of shots to go around with Brook Lopez and Thaddeus Young shut down for the rest of the season, but he offers little other than scoring and his fantasy value is mostly limited to deeper leagues.

Update: Kilpatrick scored a career-high 25 points (9-12 FG, 4-5 3Pt, 3-3 FT) with a pair of rebounds a even a block during 27 minutes off the bench in Tuesday's 105-100 loss to the Hornets.

Analysis: Kilpatrick has been a gem since joining the Nets in a trade with the Nuggets. He was lighting up the D-League and has been able to find some success as a Jamal Crawford-type of bench scorer. Chances are it's too late to scoop him off the waiver wire for the playoffs, but he's most likely still a bargain on most DFS sites.

Update: Kilpatrick is closing in on a two-year deal with the Nets, The Vertical reports.

Analysis: Kilpatrick is currently playing on his second 10-day contract, meaning that once it expires the Nets will either have to release him or sign him for the rest of the season. It looks as though they'll go with the latter option, inking Kilpatrick to a two-year deal that's expected to be fully guaranteed for the 2016-17 season. Since signing with the Nets, the 26-year-old Kilpatrick is averaging 11.9 points and 1.6 rebounds in 19.0 minutes per game (eight games).

Update: Kilpatrick compiled 19 points (8-13 FG, 3-6 3Pt), one rebound, and one assist in 22 minutes during the Nets' 109-100 loss to the Bucks on Sunday.

Analysis: Kilpatrick's 19 points and three three-pointers both matched his career highs, which he set on Mar. 5 versus the Timberwolves. Kilpatrick has scored in double figures during four of the last five games, and the former D-League standout is starting to make a name for himself on the world's biggest stage. If he continues to perform at anywhere near this level, the Nets will likely choose to sign him for the remainder of the season. However, thus far he hasn't contributed much in the other categories outside of scoring, and he is yet to log more than 26 minutes in any individual contest.

Update: Kilpatrick signed another 10-day contract with the Nets on Wednesday, Andy Vasquez of The Record reports.

Analysis: Kilpatrick has been a pleasant surprise for the Nets since joining the team in late February, as he's been a regular in the rotation while averaging 9.4 points and 1.2 rebounds over just 16.6 minutes in his five appearances. The former Cincinnati guard, who appeared in eight games for the Nuggets earlier this season, seems to be making a compelling case for the Nets to keep him around for the remainder of the campaign.

Update: Kilpatrick scored 19 points (6-13 FG, 3-5 3Pt, 4-4) to go with three rebounds and a steal in 26 minutes during Saturday's loss to the TImberwolves.

Analysis: After scoring 12 points in just 20 minutes Friday, Kilpatrick continued to make the most of his opportunity, nailing a team-high three three-pointers and cashing in all four of his free throws. So much of the Nets rotation is up in the air right now, but if he keeps shooting like this, he'll make a case for himself moving forward.

Update: Kilpatrick contributed 12 points (4-11 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 2-2 FT) and two rebounds over 20 minutes in Friday's 121-120 overtime victory over the Nuggets.

Analysis: The second-year shooting guard is making the most of his 10-day contract with Brooklyn, putting together a second consecutive solid performance in relatively modest minutes. Kilpatrick followed an eight-point tally on Tuesday versus the Lakers with a season-high 12 points, and drained multiple threes for the second straight game. While his role and usage are certainly up in the air at this point, Kilpatrick could conceivably flash enough potential to warrant a contract for the remainder of the season. If interim coach Tony Brown opts to go with a youth movement in the latter stages of the campaign, he could certainly be a beneficiary.

Update: Kilpatrick has signed a 10-day contract with the Nets, Marc J. Spears of Yahoo NBA reports.

Analysis: Kilpatrick was recently expected to be picked up by the Timberwolves after a spot opened up on their roster when they waived veteran guard Andre Miller. He spent time with the Nuggets this season, and produced 3.4 points and 0.8 rebounds in 10 minutes per game in eight appearances. While it's unclear if he'll gain a more permanent roster spot with the Nets, he'll compete with Wayne Ellington, Donald Sloan, Markel Brown, and Shane Larkin for playing time.

Update: Kilpatrick will sign a second 10-day contract with the Nuggets, Chris Dempsey of the Denver Post reports.

Analysis: Kilpatrick initially signed with the team earlier in the month after beginning the season in the D-League. The former Cincinnati standout has played only sparingly in four games since being called up, but the Nuggets will keep him around for another week-and-a-half before deciding whether or not to sign him for the remainder of the year.

Update: Kilpatrick will sign a 10-day contract with the Nuggets on Tuesday, Shams Charania of Yahoo! Sports reports.

Analysis: Kilpatrick has been lighting it up with the D-League Delaware 87ers this season, averaging 27.1 points, 4.1 rebounds, 3.3 three-pointers, two assists, and 1.1 steals while shooting 47.7 percent from the field over 22 games. Those statistics will plummet steeply once Kilpatrick joins the Nuggets, as he's likely only be asked to provide emergency depth in the backcourt while Jameer Nelson recovers from a left hip flexor strain. Don't expect Kilpatrick to become a regular member of coach Michael Malone's rotation.
