Rockets must find coach in wake of first-round ouster

HOUSTON (AP) The Houston Rockets' season got off to a disappointing start.
So it was fitting that it ended in similar fashion.
The Rockets narrowly avoided missing the playoffs and barely put up a fight before their first-round elimination by Golden State in Game 5 wrapped up a tough season. Now they face many offseason questions, the biggest being who will coach this team and whether Dwight Howard will opt out of the last year of his contract and become a free agent.
''We're going to get the coach search right,'' general

NBA says Wade wasn't fouled in final seconds of Game 5 loss

MIAMI (AP) Dwyane Wade does not read the NBA's reviews of officiating in the last 2 minutes of close games, which might be a wise move in this particular case.
He wouldn't have liked what the league said Thursday.
And it seems referees could do without the NBA's after-the-fact public critiques as well.
Since March 2015, the NBA's ''Last Two Minute Report'' has provided a public report card of sorts on everything that happens in the final 2 minutes of games that were within five points or less. The NBA said it releases the

K.J. McDaniels

Jul 26 2016, 14:57 PM

Update: N/A

Analysis: While McDaniels may not have been the most efficient Houston player this summer, he did serve as the Rockets' leading scorer throughout summer league play. Last season, however, the two-year vet tallied just 2.4 points per contest. McDaniels has certainly demonstrated his ability to produce at the NBA level, but with Houston's depth at the guard slot it is difficult to project exactly how he fairs. With James Harden and Eric Gordon figuring to dominate the ball offensively, McDaniels may be of little help come October.

Sam Dekker

Jul 20 2016, 13:56 PM

Update: N/A

Analysis: Houston's 2015 first-round draft pick appeared in just three games for the Rockets during the 2015-16 campaign before undergoing back surgery in November. Even though this marked Dekker's second summer league, many close to the Rockets were eager to see how the 6-foot-9 forward would perform in his return to action. It's safe to assume that Dekker exceeded expectations, especially in regards to his shooting. Dekker knocked down 39 percent of his threes and shot 54 percent from the floor. With Dwight Howard no longer in the mix, someone will have to replace his production. While Dekker obviously won't contribute at center, the trickle-down effect of Howard's departure, as well as that of Terrence Jones, could yield some minutes to Dekker.
