Update: Parsons will opt out of the final year of his contract and become a free agent, Dwain Price of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.
Analysis: Despite owner Mark Cuban's best efforts to convince Parsons to opt in to his third and final year, with the salary cap set to rise massively for the 2016-17 season, Parsons will look for a pay raise from the $16 million he was set to make next season. If the Maverick's wish to keep Parsons aboard, they'll need to give him that significant pay raise.
Parsons has been sidelined Friday by a sore right hamstring.
Parsons played in the third quarter, but was replaced by David Lee midway through the period not long after losing the ball on a turnover when he was trying to drive to the basket. He started the season on a minutes restriction after offseason right knee surgery.
