PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) Portland guard CJ McCollum won the NBA's Most Improved Player award in his first season as a starter for the Trail Blazers, dramatically improving his scoring average by more than 14 points over last season. Analysis: Plumlee is coming off a season in Milwaukee where he appeared in 61 games, starting 14, and averaged 5.1 points and 3.8 rebounds over 14.3 minutes. The deal may indicate that the Bucks are going to continue to look to move center Greg Monroe via trade, in which case Plumlee would see an elevated role either as a starting center or the backup behind John Henson. Should Milwaukee elect to keep Monroe, however, Plumlee's role in the Bucks' rotation will likely remain minimal barring any serious injuries.
Analysis: Vasquez was limited to just 23 appearances for the Bucks last season after undergoing ankle surgery in December, but will hope to nail down a significant role on a Nets team in need of backcourt help. While fellow offseason addition Jeremy Lin will start at point guard, Vasquez projects as Brooklyn's primary backup at the position and should see minutes at shooting guard as well. Through six seasons, Vasquez has averaged 9.0 points and 4.8 assists, but the veteran could benefit from expanded responsibilities with the Nets.
