Update: Ibaka was traded to the Magic on Thursday in exchange for Victor Oladipo, Ersan Ilyasova and the draft rights to No. 11 overall pick Domantas Sabonis, Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports reports.
Analysis: The Thunder announced prior to Thursday's draft that Ibaka was on the trade block, and they wasted no time in finding a suitor for the shot-blocking power forward. While Ibaka should give the Magic another springy big man to pair in the frontcourt with the uber-athletic Aaron Gordon and low-post scoring threat Nikola Vucevic, it's a steep price to pay, with both Oladipo and Sabonis representing intriguing assets as the Thunder potentially prepare for a post-Kevin Durant world. Ibaka has seen his points, rebounds and blocks per game fall in each of the last three seasons, but that may have partially been a byproduct of Durant and Russell Westbrook having oversized roles in the Thunder attack. With no true star players surrounding him on his new team, Ibaka could reverse the three-year statistical trend and become a greater focal point on both ends of the floor. He'll turn just 27 years old in September, so Ibaka is far from over the hill at this stage of his career.
The Oklahoma City Thunder are resting star Kevin Durant and starting forward Serge Ibaka for Tuesday night's game against the Detroit Pistons.
Coach Billy Donovan says the Thunder thought this was a good chance to rest the two players after Oklahoma City played at Toronto the previous night. The Thunder have clinched the Northwest Division title, and they are almost certain to end up with the Western Conference's third-best record at the end of the regular season.
